The Islanders battled the Miramichi Rivermen to the very end before losing 4 - 3 in a shootout. Cody Coffin opened the scoring at 2:23 of the first period pouncing on a rebound of a Jeremy Balderston shot with the only goal of the first period. The Islanders could only beat Rivermen goalie Julien Daigle once in the period on their 16 shots while Islanders keeper Ryan Deagle stopped all 10 shots he faced while Stephen Miller stopped the 2 shots he faced while Deagle was getting equipment repairs. Craig MacLauchlan made it 2 - 0 at 7:36 of the second on a shot from the slot along the ice beating Daigle assisted by Coffin and Max MacDonald. Miramichi outshot the Islanders 10 - 8 in the period. The Rivermen came out flying in the third with Ryan Deagle holding the fort until Nick Kyle pounced on a rebound at 6:12 beating him for their first goal assisted by Dannick Theriault and Tommy Bezeau. Ryan Malone tied the score at 2 - 2 at 11:39 scoring on a passout from behind the net assisted by Cole MacDonald and Alex Scully. The Islanders took the lead just 29 seconds later when Jeremy Balderston scored on a rebound assisted by Craig Dougan and J.C. Dawson. Brett Malone tied the game again at 18:25 when he received a backdoor pass from Cole MacDonald and Alex Scully. Each team had 3 shots in overtime before Joel Blanchard and Malone scored in the shootout with Craig MacLauchlan was the only one of 3 Islanders able to dent the twines. Julien Daigle got the win stopping 32 of 35 shots and Ryan Deagle despite having an outstanding game for the Islanders stopping 33 of 36 shots was credited with the loss.
