The Islanders came out of the dressing room with a strong start which led to a 5 - 1 victory over the Cornwall Thunder Thursday Night at the MacLauchlan Arena. Brandon Weir opened the scoring at 5:08 of the first period beating goalie Dylan McQuaid in close assisted by Cleve McNeill and Jordan McInnis. Craig MacLauchlan scored his first of two powerplay goals at 6:12 just 7 seconds into the powerplay assisted by Craig Dougan and Harrison Wood and again at 10:28 form Craig Dougan and Cleve McNeill to close out the first period. The Islanders outshot the Thunder 10 - 4 in the period. Devon Parsons got the Thunder on the scoreboard on the powerplay at 14:29 of the second when his point shot found the back of the net behind a startled Stephen Miller assisted by Devon Gunn and Evan Carmody. The Islanders outshot the Thunder 22 - 8 in the period. The Islanders sealed the victory with two more powerplay goals in the third by Jeremy Balderston from Harrison Wood and J.C. Dawson at 10:45 and Harrison Wood from J.C. Dawson and Brad MacKenzie at 14:46. The Islanders out shot the Thunder 11 - 7 in the third and 43 - 19 overall. Stephen Miller got the win and Dylan McQuaid was charged with the loss.
