The Islanders lost 6 - 2 to the Miramichi Rivermen Saturday Night before bouncing back with a 5 - 4 shootout win over the St. John Vitos on Sunday. Nick Kyle led the Rivermen with 3 goals, Alex Blais 2 and Cole MacDonald a single. Assists were credited to Justin Hache 2, Trey Lewis 3 and singles by Rankyn Campbell, Tyrone Sock, Joel Blanchard and Alexander Scully. Jordan McInnis and Harrison Wood scored for the Islanders while J. C. Dawson, Brad MacKenzie and Craig MacLauchlan chipped in with an assist each. Julien Daigle got the victory stopping 31 of 33 shots while Ryan Deagle was tagged with the loss while stopping 37 of the 43 shots he faced.
On Sunday the Islanders jumped out to a 2 - 0 first period lead on goals by Jeremy Balderston and then Harrison Wood on the powerplay. Andrew Dolan cut the lead in half at 4:42 of the second before Wood with his second powerplay goal of the game restored the Islanders 2 goal lead. Ryan Langan cut the lead to 1 with a powerplay goal at 19:40 of the second. Daniel Muise once again restored the Islanders 2 goal lead at 3:42 of the third period on the powerplay finishing off a 3 way passing play with J.C. Dawson and Cleve McNeill. The Vitos closed out the third period scoring with a pair of powerplay goals by Scott Fenwick at 11:13 and Ryan Langan at 18:57 to send the game into overtime. Islanders keeper Stephen Miller made two huge saves in overtime to send the game to a shootout before Jordan McInnis of the Islanders deked Andrew Mergl for the hard fought victory with the only goal in the shootout. Jarred Hicks had 3 assists for the Vitos, with singles coming from Mike Richard, Chris McGraw, Sam McGuire, Scott Fenwick and Cody Kennedy. The Islanders got assists from Craig Dougan 2, Harrison Wood, Jordan McInnis, Craig MacLauchlan, J.C. Dawson and Cleve McNeill one each. Stephen Miller picked up the win stopping 29 of 33 while Andrew Mergl suffered the loss stopping 30 of the 34 he faced.
