The Islanders lost 5 - 1 to the Cornwall Thunder at the APM Centre on Wednesday to tumble to the bottom of the League Standings.
The Islanders outshot the Thunder 12 - 7 in a scoreless first period before taking a tripping penalty at the 20:00 minute mark. The Thunder connected at 0:40 seconds into the second period on the powerplay on a goal by Dakota Vessey assisted by Devan Gunn and Matt Kelly.
Craig MacLauchlan tied the game 50 seconds later on the powerplay assisted by Jordan McInnis and Harrison Wood. Brandan Carter scored the eventual game winner on the powerplay at 7:32 of the second period assisted by Gunn and Drew Coulson. The Islanders once again outshot the Thunder 11 - 6 in the second period. Brandon Carter scored the insurance marker at 11:49 of the third assisted by Gunn and Nathan Ellis. Isaac Jay scored the Thunder's 3rd powerplay goal of the game assisted by Carter and Kelly at 14:09 before Isaac Jay completed the scoring at 17:31 assisted by Griffin Gallant and Drew Coulson. The Thunder outshot the Islanders 11 - 9 in the period.
Chris Gallant picked up the win stopping 31 of 32 shots while Stephen Miller was charged with the loss after stopping 19 of 24 shots.
