The Islanders continue their poor play in the NB/PEI Major Midget Hockey League with a 5 - 2 loss to the Cornwall Thunder Wednesday Night in Montague. The Islanders were coming off a 4 win 1 loss record at the Gatineau Kiwanis International Tournament last week when they followed that with a lack of discipline and a poor effort in their first game back. Jeremy Balderston opened the scoring at 13:47 of the first period on the powerplay assisted by Brandon Gaudet. The Islanders made it 2 - 0 at 3:20 of the second period when Balderston scored his second goal of the game assisted by Ryan Kelly and Brad MacKenzie. The Thunder scored their first goal of the game shorthanded by Matt Kelly at 17:24 of the second assisted by Stefan LaPierre and Brandon Carter. Logan Smallman tied the game with an unassisted goal at 3:56 of the third period followed by the game winner on the powerplay at 6:12 assisted by Carter and Dakota Vessey. Evan Carmody from Devon Parsons and Adam Wight scored the insurance marker on the powerplay at 7:50 and Devan Gunn sealed the victory at 14:21 assisted by Jonathan Richards and Isaac MacDonald. Dylan McQuaid got the victory in nets stopping 30 of 32 shots while Ryan Deagle got the loss stopping 27 of 32 shots.
