The Islanders defeated the St. John Vitos 3 - 1 Sunday Afternoon at the MacLauchlan Arena. Jason Thorpe opened the scoring for the Vitos at 5:45 beating Stephen Miller on the glove side assisted by Scott Fenwick and Ryan Langan. Islanders forward Craig MacLauchlan beat goalie Kyle Cameron at 11:00 of the first period when Craig Dougan battled his way to a loose puck with a Vitos defenseman hanging onto him and centering to a trailing MacLauchlan. Jordan McInnis started the play putting the puck high off the glass in the Islanders end. The Islanders outshot the Vitos 8 - 5 in the period. The pace picked up in the second period with the Vitos outshooting the Islanders 17 - 16 during the period. The only goal of the second was a powerplay goal by Islanders forward Ross Johnston at 13:42 pouncing on a rebound assisted by Brandon Gaudet and Brad MacKenzie. The third period was wide open again with the Islanders outshooting the Vitos 17 - 13.
J.C. Dawson with his first goal of the season sealed the victory on the powerplay at 17:56 in a three way passing play with linemates Ross Johnston and Daniel Muise. The Islanders outshot the Vitos 41 - 35.
