The Islanders played their final game of the 2011 - 2012 Season with a 5 - 2 loss at home.
The Cornwall Thunder victory clinched the Provincial Major Midget AAA Championship 4 - 2.
Chris MacGregor opened the scoring for the Thunder on the powerplay at 5:36 of the first
followed by Nick Handrahan's goal at 16:01 to give the Thunder a 2 - 0 lead after the first
period. Logan Doiron at 3:08 of the second and Ross Martin at 8:42 increased the lead
to 4 - 0 before Damon MacDonald on the powerplay at 14:05 beat Thunder goalie Grant Grady.
The Islanders came out with a great push in the third period with Tyler Doyle scoring at
1:34 and the Islanders continuing to press but playoff MVP Grant Grady was too much
for the Islanders shooters and Logan Smallman sealed the victory with an empty
net powerplay goal at 18:53. Grady stopped 27 of 29 shots while Islanders keeper
Sam Walsh stopped 37 of 41 shots directed his way.
